Getting Started

To get started playing in the Command & Conquest system, make sure to review the Rules above first. If you are not already a member of the Thegye Discord server, click here to join the server: Play. When you join, you may select “Command & Conquest” from the dropdown presented to you by the verification bot.

Once you have successfully joined the server, you will need to register for the system (see Commands). When you register, it is a good idea to assign yourself a name that fits with the general spirit of the game. Likewise, choose a color that you will be familiar with. Once your nation is registered, you can view it using the nation viewing commands.

You will automatically be assigned a starting province on one of the mainland masses; to avoid getting stuck, the system will not assign new players to islands. Immediately after registering, it is a good idea to get an idea of your surroundings. You can use the Map to locate your new nation. Take note of the nations around you, marking potential allies or enemies, as well as terrain and trade goods.

Turns

Turns are the basic unit of time measurement in the game and occur every six (6) hours, equaling four (4) turns for every day. These Turns happen on the four quadrants of the clock: 0:00, 06:00, 12:00, and 18:00 Eastern Time. You can use the Turn command to see the next Turn update time in your local time.

Each Turn update resets the many aspects of the system, such as Authority, to their calculated amount. For example, if your nation naturally earns five (5) Economic Authority and you expend four (4) Economic Authority during a Turn, the next update will reset your Economic Authority to five (5). Turns also tick over for other aspects as well. Researching Technology takes a certain number of Turns, Truces last for a set number based on War Score, and certain buffs or debuffs have Turn timers.

Managing your limited resources during a Turn is vitally important, especially during dangerous times such as Rebellions or Wars. If you use up all of your Armies’ movement within the first hour of a Turn, you open the door for your enemies to outmaneuver you throughout the other five hours until your Armies’ movement resets. Remember, Command & Conquest is a game of strategy.

Managing Authority, Establishing Relationships, Building an Army, and Securing Territory

Once you have registered your nation and taken stock of your surroundings, it is a good idea to consider how to expand and secure your new nation.

Take note of your Authority levels, as that will determine how many and which actions you may take during a turn. Familiarize yourself with the Authority section of the Manual, which explains the uses and purposes of each of the Authority types, including how to gain more. It is important to manage all three, but Military and Economic Authority will be most useful in the opening turns of your nation.

To ensure that your nation will prosper, you will want to establish diplomatic relations with neighbors. Reference the Diplomacy section of the Manual, which lists the various types of diplomatic relations and their effects. Diplomatic Relations and Trade Pacts are good ways to establish at least a cordial relationship with your neighbors and ensure that they have a somewhat vested interest in your security.

However, the best defense is a good offense. You will need to build an army and ensure you have sufficient manpower to protect your nation. When you registered for your nation, an army of 3,000 troops was mustered in your starting province. This army has limited movement, low troop capacity, and no general. Familiarize yourself with the Armies section of the Manual, which details the use and management of movement, troops, manpower, and generals. You can utilize Economic Authority to recruit more troops.

Once your army is sufficiently large, you can begin conquering surrounding territories. It is important to review the number of citizens that a province has; the number of citizens directly correlates to the number of native defenders that will resist your invasion of their land. Once you have conquered a few more provinces, you will begin reaping the benefits of your new provinces.

Economy, Trade, and Technology

With new territory and additional resources, you will be able to expand your economy, increase your power, and further increase your Authority pool. The best method to grow your economy is through establishing Trade Routes with other nations. See the Diplomacy section of the Manual to learn more about Trade Routes, Trade Value production, and more. You may also manage your Taxation to increase your Economic Authority, but be careful not to overburden your Citizenry. You may also begin investing in structures, which you can read about in the Provinces section of the Manual. However, most structures require you to research certain Technology.

Researching Technology is the best way to advance your nation’s power in the long term. Review the Technology & Research section of the Manual. It is a good idea to plot out the Technology you will want to achieve your goals. Investing in a specific branch of Technology will help guide your nation in a particular direction. Note that every nation begins with the Knowledge technology unlocked. Researching Technology early is especially helpful, as the more Provinces and Development your nation gains, the more Turns are required to complete the research.

Government and Politics

With your starting position secured, it is time to begin reforming and altering your nation’s government. There are several Government Types and Subtypes, which can all be found in the Government Type section of the Manual. Each Type and Subtype has unique aspects, as well as effects on your nation’s base Authority gain. Selecting a Government Type and Subtype will provide more advantages for certain styles of gameplay. Remember that Government Types are unlocked by researching Technology.

Your nation’s politics can also be altered to fit your plans. Managing taxation, government spending, and national unrest will be vital for keeping your nation secure and stable. Review the Government section of the Manual to learn more about how to manage these. Watch out for Rebellions and Revolutions in your nation; these can be detrimental to your plans if not managed or avoided. Maintaining strong Stability and low National Unrest will ensure that your nation prospers.

War and Conquest

No matter how much diplomacy you leverage, conflict with your rivals is inevitable. After all, if you are to achieve your goals at the expense of other nations, you must occasionally be willing to shed blood for those goals. War between two nations, or between two alliances, is often the quickest way to settle whose goals will be achieved. Review the Armies and war portion of the Manual to learn about war. When a war inevitably ends, the victor must demand something of his enemies. Reviewing the Armies and war section will inform you about peace negotiation options and their effects. Defenders can also extract terms, should they overcome their enemies. Never underestimate your opponents, for they just might end up forcing defeat upon you.

War can be an excellent way to hobble a rival, isolate a neighbor, or subjugate a weaker nation. If you are more economically focused, extracting reparations, forcibly closing trade routes, or ending embargoes at the end of a trade war can boost your economy at the expense of your opponents. There is more to war than just outright conquest.

Great Powers

Among the nations, there are some that are greater. This is the final accomplishment for the ambitious player. Great Powers are those who have proven their worth above the common lot of nations. They have certain privileges over nations but must contend with those who would take their rank from them. Read the Great Powers section of the Manual to learn about their special powers.

Now carve your own path, conqueror!
