Our roleplay setting is based in the alternate world of Thegye, a place of mystic magic, a powerful, but fractured empire, and court intrigue. The powerful Sacred Marintes Empire, long a bulwark against the uncivilized invaders from the west and the center of the Carolinisme religion, has entered an unstable period following the death of Emperor Carles Francés in a freak explosion. The realm now teeters on the brink of collapse... or on the brink of glory. The states of the Empire squabble over who has a rightful claim. Raiders test the boundaries of the western wall. Rumors of new, unexplored lands to the east circulate in the ale-houses and salons of the Empire. What does the future hold?
The Thegye Geopolitical Roleplay consists of players taking on the role of nations within or near the Sacred Marintes Empire, a large confederation of semi-independent states bound together by shared culture and a shared external threat. These nation-states exist primarily as members of the Empire, either willingly or begrudgingly, and participate in the intrigue of the Imperial court, establish commerce and trade, and even fight among themselves for land, wealth, resources, or power. Players are given free rein (within the Rules) to design and implement their nation. Players are encouraged to interact with nearby nations and even coordinate on cultural, social, and political connections. The nature of the empire is fractious; players are therefore encouraged to create Holy Roman Empire-eqsue claims, with pockets of fiefdoms and realms throughout the Empire.
